The Southmen Speak

A Monthly Commentary By The Southmen Quartet

September 2011 / Buddy Burton - Tenor

The lyrics, "It's so good to be back home where you belong", are very fitting for my return to The Southmen Quartet.

I can't believe we have been singing since the 70's. No group that I have sung with has had better singings, more fun, and more spiritual response. The combination of Buddy Poe, Larry Beck, Jim Hefner, Eddie Crook, Johny Washburn, and myself is a winning one and just like family.

Jim is a great Emcee and the funniest man on the planet. His new CD has just been released and I can't wait to hear it. We never know what to expect on stage!

We are excited about our new "Singin' Down South" TV show, signing with the Beckie Simmons Agency, our tour to California, and then our tour next Spring to Canada.

We have seen so many lives touched in our concerts and for that we are thankful!

Seeing so many of our fans through the years is so rewarding. Many have gone to be with the Lord and what a Reunion Day we'll all have one day.

The response from the SGPA where we sang for them in May at their annual meeting in Nashville was overwhelming. Thank God for promoters and radio DJs! Without them there would be no concerts and no one playing our music across the country!

We will have our best year next year since we organized years ago! We're excited!"
