The Southmen Speak

A Monthly Commentary By The Southmen Quartet

January 2012 / Larry Beck - Baritone

Being an original member, it's been almost 40 years since I stepped onto the stage with the Southmen Quartet, and I will never forget that first night in Rome Ga. It was unbelievable. And thank God, the excitement the group had back then-is still there. What an honor to see people blessed, healed, delivered from drugs, and have Jesus change their lives for all eternity.

Wonderful things are happening for the Southmen Quartet- Speaking of just a few:
  • The West Coast Tour, and the way we were accepted and hosted
  • Singing at Dollywood
  • The new weekly television program (Singin’ Down South) that is shown all over the world
  • And then there is signing with BSA (Becky Simmons Agency)
but then I remember in the Scriptures it says to "seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you".

Singing with the guys - Buddy Burton, Jim Hefner, Buddy Poe, Eddie Crook, and Johnny Washburn is great! But, I believe it is sweeter now than its ever been. Maybe because of our ages, or our friendships, but I think for me it is because that starting into my twilight years I can still sing the Best Music ever written, and tell people of God's wonderful and eternal love.
